Bulbul adalah sebuah keluarga, Pycnonotidae, burung tampar berbilang medium. Ramai spesies hutan dikenali sebagai bulu hijau, kubis coklat, daun lapis, atau bristlebill. Keluarga ini diedarkan ke seluruh Afrika dan ke Timur Tengah, Asia tropika ke Indonesia, dan utara sejauh Jepun. Terdapat beberapa spesis serangga di pulau-pulau tropika di Lautan Hindi. Terdapat kira-kira 130 spesies di sekitar 24 genera. Walaupun sesetengah spesies didapati di kebanyakan habitat, keseluruhan spesies Afrika kebanyakannya ditemui di hutan hujan manakala spesis hutan hujan jarang berlaku di Asia, sebaliknya lebih memilih kawasan yang lebih terbuka. Satu-satunya Bulbul yang berlaku di Eropah dilihat di Cyclades dan menanggung patch berwarna kuning, selain daripada coklat yang lembap. Perkataan bulbul berasal dari bahasa Parsi: بلبل, bermakna nightingale. Dalam bahasa Arab dan Parsi, 'bulbul' bermaksud nightingale, tetapi dalam bahasa Inggeris, 'bulbul' merujuk kepada burung dari keluarga burung yang berlainan.
