Fumarole adalah pembukaan di kerak bumi, sering di kawasan kejiranan gunung berapi, yang memancarkan wap dan gas seperti karbon dioksida, sulfur dioksida, hidrogen klorida, dan hidrogen sulfida. Wap dicipta apabila air yang panaskan beralih ke stim kerana tekanannya turun apabila ia keluar dari tanah. Nama solfatara, dari solfo Itali, sulfur, diberikan kepada fumaroles yang mengeluarkan gas sulfur. Fumaroles mungkin berlaku bersama-sama retak kecil atau retakan panjang, dalam kluster huru-hara atau padang, dan pada permukaan aliran lava dan aliran tebal aliran piroklastik.
