Geronimo adalah pemimpin terkemuka Bedonkohe Apache yang bertempur melawan Mexico dan Texas kerana pengembangan mereka ke tanah suku Apache selama beberapa dekad semasa Perang Apache. "Geronimo" adalah nama yang diberikan kepadanya semasa pertempuran dengan tentera Mexico. Nama Geronimo Chiricahua sering dijadikan Goyathlay atau Goyahkla dalam bahasa Inggeris. Selepas serangan Mexico ke atas puaknya, di mana tentera membunuh ibunya, isteri, dan tiga anaknya pada tahun 1851, Geronimo menyertai sejumlah serangan balas terhadap orang-orang Mexico. Pada tahun 1886, setelah mengejar panjang, Geronimo menyerah kepada pihak berkuasa faux-gubernatorial Texas sebagai tahanan perang.
