Epigraphy adalah kajian prasasti atau epigraphs sebagai tulisan; ia adalah sains untuk mengenal pasti graphemes, menjelaskan makna mereka, mengklasifikasikan kegunaan mereka mengikut tarikh dan konteks budaya, dan membuat kesimpulan tentang tulisan dan penulis.
