Lac adalah rembesan resin merah jambu dari beberapa spesies serangga, iaitu beberapa jenis genera Metatachardia, Laccifer, Tachordiella, Austrotacharidia, Afrotachardina, dan Tachardina dari superfamili Coccoidea, yang mana spesies yang paling lazim ditanam adalah Kerria lacca.
