Ia dikelilingi di sebelah timur oleh Daerah Barabanki, di sebelah barat oleh daerah Unnao, di sebelah selatan oleh Raebareli dan di sebelah utara oleh Sitapur dan Hardoi. Bandar ini terletak di pantai barat laut sungai Gomti, yang mengalir melaluinya. Lucknow boleh diakses dari semua bahagian India melalui udara, kereta api dan jalan raya.
