APAKAH MAKSUD MESCAL dalam CORSICA?
Mezcal
Mezcal, atau mescal, adalah minuman beralkohol yang disuling yang dibuat dari tumbuhan maguey yang berasal dari Mexico. Perkataan mezcal berasal dari Nahuatl mexcalli metl dan ixcalli yang bermaksud "oven-masak agave". Maguey berkembang di banyak bahagian Mexico, walaupun kebanyakan mezcal dibuat di Oaxaca. Ada kata yang dikaitkan dengan Oaxaca mengenai minuman: "para todo mal, mezcal, y to todo bien también". Tidak jelas sama ada minuman beralkohol dihasilkan di Mexico sebelum penaklukan Sepanyol. Orang Sepanyol diperkenalkan kepada minuman berminat asli seperti pulque, juga dibuat dari tanaman maguey. Tidak lama kemudian para penakluk mula bereksperimen dengan tanaman maguey untuk mencari jalan untuk membuat mash yang difermentasi. Hasilnya adalah mezcal.
