APAKAH MAKSUD MIOCENE dalam CORSICA?
Miosen
Miocene / maɪəsiːn / adalah zaman geologi pertama zaman Neogene dan berkembang dari sekitar 23.03 hingga 5.332 juta tahun yang lalu. Miosen itu dinamakan oleh Sir Charles Lyell. Namanya berasal dari kata Yunani μείων dan καινός dan bermaksud "kurang baru" kerana ia mempunyai 18% lebih sedikit invertebrat laut moden daripada Pliocene. Miosen mengikuti zaman Oligosen dan diikuti oleh zaman Pliocene. Bumi pergi dari Oligocene melalui Miosen dan ke Pliocene kerana ia disejukkan menjadi satu siri zaman ais.
