Monstera adalah genus kira-kira 60 spesies tumbuhan berbunga dalam keluarga arum, Araceae, asli di kawasan tropika di Amerika. Genus ini dinamakan dari perkataan Latin untuk "besar" atau "tidak normal", dan merujuk kepada daun-daun yang luar biasa dengan lubang-lubang semulajadi yang mempunyai anggota genus. Mereka adalah herba atau anggur malar hijau, tumbuh ke ketinggian 20 meter (66 kaki) di pokok-pokok, memanjat dengan cara akar udara yang bertindak sebagai cangkuk atas cawangan; akar-akar ini juga akan tumbuh ke dalam tanah untuk membantu menyokong tumbuhan. Daunnya silih ganti, berwarna hijau gelap, sangat besar, dari 25-90 sentimeter (9.8-35.4 inci) panjang (sehingga 130 sentimeter (51 in) panjang di M. dubia) dan 15-75 sentimeter (5.9-29.5 in ) yang luas, selalunya dengan lubang di bilah daun. Bunga-bunga itu ditanggung pada hal berkembang khas yang dipanggil spadix, 5-45 sentimeter (2.0-17.7 inci) panjang; buahnya adalah sekumpulan buah beri putih, dimakan dalam beberapa spesies. Mereka biasanya tumbuh di dalam rumah sebagai houseplants. Wakil terkenal genus, Monstera deliciosa, juga ditanam untuk buah yang dapat dimakannya yang rasanya seperti kombinasi pisang dan nanas.
