Jambatan penggantungan adalah jenis jambatan di mana dek digantung di bawah kabel penggantungan pada suspender menegak. Di luar Tibet dan Bhutan, di mana contoh pertama jembatan jenis ini dibina pada abad ke-15, jembatan jenis ini bermula dari awal abad ke-19. Jambatan tanpa suspender menegak mempunyai sejarah yang panjang di banyak kawasan pergunungan di dunia. Kabel utama terus melampaui tiang untuk menyokong tahap dek, dan terus meneruskan sambungan dengan sauh di dalam tanah. Jalan raya disokong oleh kabel suspensi atau rod menegak, yang dipanggil gantungan.
