Pidgin
A pidgin / pɪdʒɨn /, atau bahasa pidgin, adalah versi bahasa yang mudah dipermudahkan sebagai alat komunikasi antara dua atau lebih kumpulan yang tidak mempunyai bahasa yang sama. Ia biasanya digunakan dalam situasi seperti perdagangan, atau di mana kedua-dua kumpulan bercakap bahasa berbeza dari bahasa negara tempat mereka tinggal. Pada asasnya, pidgin adalah cara mudah komunikasi linguistik, kerana ia dibina secara tidak sengaja, atau oleh konvensyen, antara individu atau kumpulan orang. Pidgin bukanlah bahasa ibunda komuniti pertuturan, tetapi sebaliknya dipelajari sebagai bahasa kedua. Pidgin boleh dibina dari perkataan, bunyi, atau bahasa tubuh dari pelbagai bahasa dan budaya lain.
