Pus adalah exudate, biasanya putih-kuning, kuning, atau kuning-coklat, dibentuk di tempat keradangan semasa jangkitan. Pengumpulan nanah di dalam ruang tisu tertutup dikenali sebagai abses, manakala koleksi nanah yang kelihatan di dalam atau di bawah epidermis dikenali sebagai pustule atau jerawat. Pus terdiri daripada cecair yang kaya protein yang dikenali sebagai puris minuman keras, dan leukosit mati dari tindak balas imun badan. Semasa jangkitan, makrofag melepaskan sitokin yang mencetuskan neutrofil untuk mencari tapak jangkitan oleh chemotaxis.
