Rafflesia
Rafflesia adalah sejenis tumbuhan berbunga parasit. Ia mengandungi kira-kira 28 spesies, yang terdapat di Asia Tenggara, di Indonesia, Malaysia, Borneo, Sumatra, Thailand dan Filipina. Rafflesia ditemui di hutan hujan Indonesia oleh pemandu Indonesia yang bekerja untuk Dr Joseph Arnold pada tahun 1818, dan dinamakan sempena Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, pemimpin ekspedisi. Ia ditemui lebih awal oleh Louis Deschamps di Jawa antara tahun 1791 dan 1794, tetapi nota dan ilustrasi yang disita oleh British pada tahun 1803, tidak tersedia untuk sains barat sehingga 1861. Kilang itu tidak mempunyai batang, daun atau akar yang benar. Ia adalah holoparasit anggur di genus Tetrastigma, menyebarkan organ penyerapnya, peninggalan, di dalam tisu anggur. Satu-satunya bahagian tumbuhan yang boleh dilihat di luar anggur tuan rumah ialah bunga lima-petaled. Dalam sesetengah spesies, seperti Rafflesia arnoldii, bunga itu mungkin lebih daripada 100 sentimeter, dan berat sehingga 10 kilogram. Malah spesies terkecil, R. baletei, mempunyai bunga berdiameter 12 cm.
