Ruffles muncul di leher tali rentetan kimia penuh pada abad ke-15, berkembang menjadi ruff yang dibina secara berasingan pada abad ke-16. Ruffles dan flounces kekal sebagai bentuk yang bergaya, bergaya dan moden.
