Siphon

Dalam siph praktikal, tekanan atmosfera menolak cecair sehingga tiub ke dalam kawasan tekanan dikurangkan di bahagian atas tiub dengan cara yang sama seperti manometer, dan sesungguhnya ketinggian maksimum vakum mula sifon adalah sama dengan ketinggian manometer yang terdedah kepada atmosfera, kerana ia beroperasi dengan mekanisme yang sama. Tekanan yang dikurangkan disebabkan oleh cecair yang jatuh di bahagian keluar.
