Strukturalisme adalah paradigma teori dalam sosiologi, antropologi, linguistik dan semiotika yang menimbulkan unsur-unsur budaya manusia yang harus dipahami dari segi hubungan mereka dengan sistem atau struktur yang lebih besar, menyeluruh. Ia berfungsi untuk mendedahkan struktur yang mendasari semua perkara yang dilakukan oleh manusia, berfikir, merasakan, dan merasakan. Secara alternatif, seperti yang diringkaskan oleh ahli falsafah Simon Blackburn, Strukturalisme adalah "kepercayaan bahawa fenomena kehidupan manusia tidak dapat dipahami kecuali melalui hubungan mereka. Hubungan ini membentuk struktur, dan di sebalik variasi tempatan dalam fenomena permukaan terdapat undang-undang budaya abstrak yang tetap". Strukturalisme berasal dari awal 1900-an, dalam linguistik struktur Ferdinand de Saussure dan Prague lanjutan, Moscow dan sekolah linguistik Copenhagen. Pada akhir 1950-an dan awal 60-an, apabila linguistik struktur menghadapi cabaran yang serius daripada orang-orang seperti Noam Chomsky dan dengan itu memudar kepentingannya, pelbagai sarjana dalam kemanusiaan meminjam konsep Saussure untuk digunakan dalam bidang pengajian masing-masing.
