Burung sunbirds dan spiderhunters membentuk sebuah keluarga, Nectariniidae, burung passerine yang sangat kecil. Terdapat 132 spesies dalam 15 genera. Kemiripan itu disebabkan oleh evolusi yang konvergen yang dibawa oleh cara hidup nektar yang menyusu. Sesetengah spesies burung hantu boleh mengambil madu dengan melayang seperti seekor burung hantu, tetapi biasanya hinggap kepada makanan.
