Karat daun gandum, adalah penyakit kulat yang memberi kesan kepada gandum, barli dan batang rai, daun dan bijirin. Di zon sederhana ia merosakkan gandum musim sejuk kerana mangsa patogen. Jangkitan boleh mengakibatkan kehilangan hasil sebanyak 20% - diburukkan lagi oleh daun mati yang menyuburkan kulat. Patogen adalah kulat karat Puccinia. Puccinia triticina menyebabkan 'karat hitam', P.recondita menyebabkan 'karat coklat' dan P.striiformis menyebabkan 'Karat kuning'. Ia adalah yang paling lazim dari semua penyakit karat gandum, yang berlaku di kebanyakan wilayah gandum. Ia menyebabkan wabak yang serius di Amerika Utara, Mexico dan Amerika Selatan dan merupakan penyakit musiman yang dahsyat di India. Ketiga jenis Puccinia adalah heteroecious yang memerlukan dua tuan rumah yang berbeza dan jauh berkaitan. Rust dan smut yang sama adalah ahli-ahli kelas Pucciniomycetes tetapi karat bukannya biasanya jisim serbuk hitam.
