Sericin Ia adalah protein yang terdiri daripada gentian cocoon bersama dengan fibroin sebagai salah satu protein ringan (protein keras). Serat cocoon silkworm ditutup dengan tiga lapisan serikin dalam dua helai fibroin. Rasa sutera dan sutera kasar dan keras dilekatkan pada sericin. Apabila ia halus, ia cair dan menjadi tekstur sutera yang unik. Serat cacing sutera ditentukan oleh pewarna karotenoid yang terdapat dalam serikin, dan komposisi asid amino serikin sangat kaya dengan serina. 세리신
경단백질(硬蛋白質)의 하나로 피브로인과 함께 누에고치 섬유를 구성하는 단백질이다. 누에고치 섬유는 2가닥의 피브로인이 3층의 세리신으로 덮여 있는데 생사의 거칠고 딱딱한 느낌은 이 세리신이 부착되어 있기 때문이며 정련하면 녹아 없어져서 견사 특유의 감촉이 된다. 또한 세리신 속에 함유된 카로티노이드계 색소에 의해 누에고치 섬유의 색이 결정되며, 세리신의 아미노산 조성은 세린이 뚜렷하게 많다.
