Fail komputer
Fail komputer ialah satu jujukan bit yang disimpan sebagai suatu unit tunggal dalam bentuk yang boleh dibaca oleh komputer, biasanya di dalam sesuatu sistem fail dalam cakera atau pita magnet. Fail komputer merupakan padanan moden kepada dokumen kertas yang secara tradisi disimpan di dalam fail pejabat dan perpustakaan.

fail 1. kotak, sampul surat besar, kad berlipat, tempat surat dsb disimpan secara tersusun: surat-surat itu disimpannya hati-hati dlm ~; 2. maklumat atau dokumen tentang sesuatu perkara, seseorang, dsb; sekumpulan data atau maklumat yg berkaitan dsb yg mempunyai nama tertentu dan dianggap sbg suatu unit storan; berfail-fail beberapa banyak fail: dia perlu menyemak ~ surat yg ada di atas mejanya sebelum pergi bercuti; memfailkan 1. memasukkan ke dlm fail, menyimpan dlm fail: tiap-tiap baucar itu dinombori dan difailkan; 2. mengemukakan sesuatu secara rasmi supaya dapat didaftarkan: kami akan ~ notis utk mendapatkan satu tarikh perbicaraan; dia sudah ~ saman ganti rugi terhadap syarikat itu di Mahkamah Shah Alam; pemfailan proses memfailkan: sistem ~ juga lebih baik kerana semuanya tersimpan di dlm komputer; ~ surat penting harus dibuat secara sistematik.
