hakis; menghakis 1. mengikis permukaan tanah atau batu dll sehingga haus, rosak, musnah dsb: angin saja tidak boleh ~ batu, tetapi angin yg mengandungi pasir halus dapat mengikis bahagian batu yg lembut; selepas tanah pantai dihakis oleh air, maka jelas kelihatan akar-akar lintang yg menegakkan akar-akar ceracak keluar; 2. menyebabkan semakin terjejas, berkurang, merosot, hilang dsb: pelbagai amalan tidak sihat akan berlaku dan seterusnya ~ keyakinan pelabur; kenaikan kos ini akan hanya ~ kecekapan pengeluaran pertanian tempatan; 3. ki menjadi kurang, merosot, menurun: apabila tindakan mengenakan kadar faedah dilambatkan, keyakinan terus ~; menghakiskan 1. mengikis permukaan tanah atau batu dll sehingga haus, rosak, musnah dsb: pohon itu musnah disebabkan oleh ombak yg sudah banyak ~ tanah di sekitarnya; 2. menyebabkan semakin terjejas, berkurang, merosot, hilang dsb: pengambilan untung selepas urus niaga berhenti rehat pd tengah hari telah ~ keuntungan terdahulu di BSKL; terhakis 1. dikikis dan dihanyutkan oleh air, angin, ombak dsb: perdu itu tumbang dan akhirnya~ segala tanah; kejadian itu menyebabkan pantai ~ akibat dipukul ombak besar; 2. menjadi semakin berkurang: pendapatan kerajaan negeri semakin ~ sedangkan perbelanjaan mengurus semakin meningkat; kedamaian kampung itu sudah mula ~ atas nama pembangunan; hakisan perihal menjadi terhakis; penghakisan proses menghakis atau menghakiskan: kadar ~ tanah bergantung pd beberapa faktor persekitaran fizikal; keruntuhan akhlak dan ~ rasa hormat dan kasih sayang kpd orang tua semakin ketara.
