Jeli merupakan salah satu daripada 10 jajahan pentadbiran negeri Kelantan yang terdiri daripada Kota Bharu, Pasir Mas, Tumpat, Pasir Puteh, Bachok, Kuala Krai, Machang, Tanah Merah, Jeli dan Gua Musang. Beberapa kawasan utama di Jeli termasuklah Batu Melintang, Air Lanas dan Kuala Balah. Pentadbiran Jajahan Jeli telah bermula pada 1hb. Julai 1982 sebagai sebuah jajahan kecil iaitu hasil daripada pecahan Jajahan Tanah Merah dan Kuala Krai iaitu sejurus lebuhraya timur barat dari sini ke Gerik, Perak dibuka ketika itu. Pada 1hb Januari 1986, Jajahan Kecil Jeli telah dinaikkan taraf sebagai sebuah Jajahan Penuh. Sehingga hari ini Jajahan Jeli adalah sebuah jajahan yang terbaru di Negeri Kelantan.
