Kole

Kole ialah sebuah kerajaan Melayu purba terletak di Muar Johor yang telah lenyap. Kole mengikut sumber sejarah lisan dengan orang asal atau orang asli Muar bererti kuala. Kuala ialah sebuah kerajaan besar Melayu di zaman orang asal terletak di Muar. Ia juga dikenali sebagai Kouli, Koli,Kole, Cole dan Kula atau Kule mengikut loghat atau dialek lidah orang asing yang mengenalinya. Kuala adalah sempena nama mulut atau hilir sungai yang besar. Setelah kerajaan Kole tumbang, Kole dikenali sebagai Teluk Dalam kerana kuala amat besar seperti teluk dan selamat kepada kapal-kapal yang berlindung daripada topan dan ribut yang sering berlaku di laut selat Melaka. Teluk Dalam juga mempunyai kerajaan dan tercatat dalam Hikayat Malim Deman, Hikayat Malim Dewa dan Hikayat Malim Buana. Mereka ialah putera-putera raja tiga beradik Kerajaan Teluk Dalam.Teluk Dalam kemudian bertukar menjadi Muar sebelum kemunculan zaman kerajaan Majapahit. Kemudian menjadi sebuah negara yang pernah dikalahkan dan dijajah oleh kerajaan Majapahit.Nama Muar kekal sehingga ke hari ini.
