Abjad Rumi
Abjad Rumi, juga dipanggil
abjad Latin, merupakan sistem tulisan abjad yang paling meluas digunakan di dunia hari ini.
Rumi berasal dari perkataan dalam bahasa Arab, Rumiyah yang bermaksud empayar Rom, huruf latin dipanggil abjad rumi kerana ianya digunakan oleh empayar Rom pada ketika itu. Abjad Rumi asas mengandungi 26 huruf, iaitu dari A hingga Z. Ia digunakan, dengan sedikit pengubahsuaian, untuk hampir semua bahasa Eropah, Amerika, Afrika sub-Sahara dan Kepulauan Pasifik. Setiap konsonan dalam Rumi, disebut seperti konsonan latin. Pada kurun ke-17, dibawah pengaruh empayar Belanda dan British semasa penjajahan dan pencerobohan yang dilakukan oleh mereka, sebutan dalam rumi telah diambil alih daripada bahasa Arab ke Latin.
