W tej prowincji kulturowej, której część była protoceltycka, od roku 800 p.n.e. rozprzestrzeniło się używanie nowego metalu, żelaza. Przodkowie Celtów, zamieszkujący obszar w widłach górnego Renu i Dunaju, znaleźli się pod wpływem ludności kultury halsztackiej.
