Transit, juga NAVSAT, NNSS - sistem navigasi satelit operasi pertama. Asalnya digunakan oleh Tentera Laut AS untuk menentukan kedudukan oleh kapal selam dengan peluru berpandu balistik Polaris, kemudian oleh kapal-kapal permukaan, dan pada tahun 1967 ia telah disediakan untuk pengguna awam. Ia digunakan antara lain. dalam penghantaran dan untuk tujuan hidrografi dan geodetik. Sistem ini dibangunkan oleh Makmal Fizik Gunaan, sebahagian daripada Johns Hopkins University atas perintah Tentera Laut AS. Ujian kejayaan pertama dibuat pada tahun 1960, pada tahun 1964 Transit mula beroperasi. Satelit diletakkan di orbit kutub orbit rendah di ketinggian kira-kira 1100 km di atas permukaan Bumi. Masa peredaran satelit di sekitar Bumi adalah kira-kira 106 minit. Satu konstelasi lima satelit diperlukan untuk memastikan liputan global. Semasa operasi normal sistem dalam orbit, 10 satelit dikekalkan. Disebabkan kekurangannya, sistem Transit digantikan oleh GPS dan berakhir operasi pada tahun 1996, walaupun satelitnya masih digunakan untuk tujuan lain.

Transit, również NAVSAT, NNSS – pierwszy działający system nawigacji satelitarnej. Używany początkowo przez Marynarkę Wojenną USA do określania pozycji przez okręty podwodne z pociskami balistycznymi typu Polaris, później również przez okręty nawodne, a w 1967 udostępniono go użytkownikom cywilnym. Wykorzystywano go m.in. w żegludze oraz do celów hydrograficznych i geodezyjnych. System został opracowany przez Applied Physics Laboratory, część Johns Hopkins University na zamówienie Marynarki Wojennej USA. Pierwszych pomyślnych testów dokonano w 1960, w 1964 Transit wszedł do eksploatacji. Satelity umieszczano na niskich orbitach okołobiegunowych na wysokości około 1100 km nad powierzchnią Ziemi. Okres obiegu satelity wokół Ziemi wynosił ok. 106 minut. Do zapewnienia globalnego zasięgu systemu potrzebna była konstelacja pięciu satelitów. W okresie normalnej działalności systemu na orbicie było utrzymywanych 10 satelitów. Ze względu na swoje wady system Transit został zastąpiony przez GPS i zakończył działalność w roku 1996, choć jego satelity wykorzystywano nadal do innych celów.
