mr. dzin „ființă fantastică” nu a fost studiată (
mr. poate fi oriental). Poate s-ar putea adăuga la cuvintele romanice deja pomenite

Sînziene, s. f. pl. (iele, în mitologia populară; sărbătoarea Sf. Ioan Botezătorul, din 24 iunie; drăgaică, Galium mollugo), cu
var. mold. sîmziene, sîmzenii, sînzenii, probabil este urmașul unui
lat. sanctae, Dĭānae, cf. calabr. santu Diana, cu formula de imprecație. Este posibil și chiar probabil, că s-ar fi produs o contaminare cu
Sanctus Iohannes (Tiktin; Densusianu,
GS, III, 433; Tagliavini,
Arch. Rom., XII, 180-83; REW 7569N), cu atît mai mult cu cît această sărbătoare este legată în toată mitologia europeană de obiceiuri folclorice și credințe străine creștinismului; dar numai această expresie
lat. nu ajunge pentru explicarea cuvîntului
rom. Formula
sanctus dĭes Iohannis (Candrea,
GS, III, 428; Candrea), imaginată pentru a evita dificultatea fonetică, nu convine, deoarece în
rom. ne-am aștepta la
sancta dĭes. Explicația bazată pe
semis și
dĭvῑna (Philippide,
Principii, 97), nu are aparențe de probabilitate.
