PH gleby jest miarą kwasowości lub zasadowości w glebach. pH określa się jako ujemny logarytm aktywności jonów hydroniowych w roztworze. W wodzie liczebnie wynosi od -1 do 14, przy czym 7 jest neutralne. PH poniżej 7 jest kwasowe i powyżej 7 jest alkaliczne. PH gleby uważa się za zmienną główną w glebach, ponieważ kontroluje wiele procesów chemicznych, które mają miejsce. Ma to szczególny wpływ na dostępność składników pokarmowych przez kontrolowanie chemicznych form substancji odżywczych. Żółta = neutralna gleba. Niebieski = ziemia alkaliczna. Czarny = brak danych.
