Catharism
Catharism (καθαροί, katharoi, "pure (ones)") był chrześcijańskim ruchem dualistycznym, rozwijającym się w niektórych rejonach Europy Południowej, szczególnie północnych Włoch i południowej Francji, między 12. a 14. Wiekiem. Wierzenia Cathar różniły się między społecznościami, ponieważ katolizm był początkowo nauczany przez księży ascetów, którzy wyznaczyli kilka wskazówek. Katarzyny były bezpośrednim wyzwaniem dla Kościoła katolickiego, który potępił praktyki i odrzucił to jako "kościół szatana".
