Arthroskopia
Artroskopia jest minimalnie inwazyjną procedurą chirurgiczną na złączu, w której wykonuje się badanie, a czasami leczenie uszkodzeń przy użyciu artoskopu, endoskopu, który jest włożony do stawu przez niewielką nacięcie. Procedury artroskopowe mogą być wykonywane w celu oceny lub leczenia wielu stanów ortopedycznych, w tym rozdartej chrząstki, podartego chrząstki powierzchniowej, rekonstrukcji ACL i przycinania uszkodzonej chrząstki. Zaletą tradycyjnej operacji otwartej jest to, że staw nie musi być w pełni otwarty. To zmniejsza czas regeneracji i może zwiększyć szybkość powodzenia z powodu mniejszego uszkodzenia tkanki łącznej. Jest szczególnie przydatny dla profesjonalnych sportowców, którzy często szkodzą stawom kolanowym i wymagają szybkiego gojenia. Jest też mniej blizn, ze względu na mniejsze nacięcia. Płyn do nawadniania służy do wydłużania stawu i utworzenia przestrzeni chirurgicznej. Czasami płyn wycieka do otaczającej tkanki miękkiej, powodując obrzęk. Instrumenty chirurgiczne są mniejsze niż tradycyjne instrumenty.
