Migotanie przedsionków
Najczęstszym nieprawidłowym rytmem serca jest migotanie przedsionków. Nie może powodować żadnych objawów, ale często towarzyszy kołatania serca, omdlenia, ból w klatce piersiowej lub zastoinowa niewydolność serca. Nie można zidentyfikować przyczyny indywidualnego AF. AF może być zidentyfikowany klinicznie podczas przyjmowania impulsu, a jego obecność może być potwierdzona elektrokardiogramem, który wykazuje brak fali P i nieregularną częstość komorową. W AF, normalne regularne impulsy elektryczne generowane przez węzeł przedsionkowy w prawym przedsionku serca są przytłoczone przez zdezorganizowane impulsy elektryczne zwykle pochodzące z korzeni żył płucnych. Stopień zwiększonego ryzyka może być znaczny, w zależności od obecności dodatkowych czynników ryzyka.
