Birdlime
Birdlime jest substancją klejącą stosowaną w pułapkach ptaków. Rozłożony jest na gałęzi lub gałązce, na której ptak może lądować i zostać złapany. Jego używanie jest niezgodne z prawem w wielu jurysdykcjach. Historycznie substancja została przygotowana na różne sposoby iz różnych materiałów. Popularna forma została wykonana z kory orzechowej, gotowanej od 10 do 12 godzin. Po odseparowaniu zielonej powłoki od drugiej, przechowywany jest w wilgotnym miejscu przez dwa tygodnie. Następnie wbity w grubą pastę, dopóki nie pozostaną włókna drewna i przemywano wodą bieżącą, aż nie pojawią się małe plamy. Po fermentacji przez cztery lub pięć dni, podczas której jest odtłuszczony, substancja jest mieszana przez ogień z trzecią częścią oleju z orzechów. Jest gotowy do użycia. Inną popularną formą dokonaną w Azji jest drzewo Ilex integra. Znane były inne wersje z różnym powodzeniem. Birdlime z Damaszku miało być zrobione z sebestenu, często w nich znajdowały się jądra; ta wersja nie wytrzymała mrozu ani mokrej nawierzchni. Powiedziano, że przywiezione z Hiszpanii mają złe zapachy.
