Cacomistle
Kakomistrz, Bassariscus sumichrasti, jest nocnym, żyjącym w gałęzi i wszystkożernym członkiem rodziny karłowatych Procyonidae. Preferowanymi siedliskami są mokre, tropikalne, wiecznie zielone lasy i lasy górskie, choć sezonowo będzie ono prowadzić do suchych lasów liściastych. Nigdzie w swoim przedziale jest B. sumichrasti wspólne. Jest to szczególnie prawdziwe w Kostaryce, gdzie zamieszkuje tylko bardzo mała powierzchnia. Jest całkowicie uzależniona od siedliska leśnego, czyniąc ją szczególnie podatną na wylesienia. W IPA jego nazwa jest wymawiana "cacomistle" lub "cacomixle". Określenie cacomistle pochodzi z języka Nahuatl i oznacza "pół kota" lub "pół górskiego lwa"; czasami jest również używany do odwoływania się do ringtail, Bassariscus astutus, podobnego gatunku, który zamieszkuje na suchym północnym Meksyku i południowo-zachodnim zachodzie USA.
