Chimera (genetyka)
Chimera jest pojedynczym organizmem składającym się z genetycznie odrębnych komórek. Może to prowadzić do organów męskich i żeńskich, dwóch różnych typów krwi lub subtelnych odmian w formie. Chomury zwierzęce są produkowane przez połączenie wielu zapłodnionych jaj. W chimerach roślinnych jednak odrębne typy tkanek mogą pochodzić z tego samego zygoty, a różnica ta często wynika z mutacji podczas zwykłego podziału komórek. Zwykle chimeryzm nie jest widoczny podczas zwykłej kontroli; jednak został wykryty w trakcie udowodnienia pochodzenia. Innym sposobem, w jaki chimerizm może wystąpić u zwierząt, jest przeszczep narządu, dając poszczególne tkanki, które powstały z dwóch różnych genomów. Na przykład, przeszczep szpiku kostnego może zmienić kogoś innego.
