Języki Cushitic są oddziałem rodziny języków afro-azjatyckich, która mówi przede wszystkim w Rogu Afryki, a także dolinie Nilu i częściach regionu Afryki Wielkich Jezior. Oddział został nazwany według charakteru biblijnego Cush, który tradycyjnie był identyfikowany jako przodek mówców tych specyficznych języków już w 947 roku. Najbardziej zaludnionym językiem Cushitic jest Oromo z około 35 milionami mówców, a następnie Somalia z około 18 milionami mówców i Sidamo z około 3 milionami mówców. Inne języki bułgarskie z ponad milionem mówców to Afar i Beja. Somalijski, jedno z oficjalnych języków Somalii, jest jedynym językiem Cushitic, któremu przyznano oficjalny status w dowolnym kraju. Jest to również jeden z uznanych języków narodowych w Dżibuti, drugi jest Afar.
