Jeżyna morska
Jeżowce morskie lub jeżówki, zwane niekiedy jeżowcami, są małe, kręcone, kuliste zwierzęta, które ze swymi bliskimi krewnymi, takimi jak piaskowe dolary, stanowią klasę Echinoidea z gatunku szkarłaczników. Około 950 gatunków echinoidów zamieszkują wszystkie oceany od odpływu do głębokości 5000 m. Powłoka lub "test", z morskich jeżowców są okrągłe i kręcone, zazwyczaj od 3 do 10 cm w poprzek. Wydry morskie, gwiazdy morskie, węgorza wilgotnego, żarłacza i innych drapieżników polują i karmią morskie jeżowce. Ich rowa jest przysmakiem w wielu kuchniach. Nazwa "urchin" to stara nazwa okrągłych kolców, które przypominają jeżowce.
