Elipsa
W matematyce elipsa jest krzywą na płaszczyźnie otaczającej dwa punkty ogniskowe tak, że linia prosta wyciągana z jednego punktu ogniskowego do dowolnego punktu na krzywej, a następnie z powrotem do innego punktu ogniskowania ma taką samą długość dla każdego punktu na krzywa. Analitycznie elipsa może być również zdefiniowana jako zbiór punktów tak, że stosunek odległości każdego punktu na krzywej od danego punktu do odległości od tego samego punktu na krzywej do danej linii jest stały, zwany ekscentryczność elipsy. Ellipsy są powszechne w fizyce, astronomii i inżynierii.
