Egzystencjalizm jest pojęciem stosowanym w pracy niektórych filozofów późnego XIX i XX wieku, którzy pomimo głębokich różnic doktrynalnych podzielili pogląd, że myślenie filozoficzne zaczyna się od podmiotu ludzkiego - a nie tylko od myślenia, ale od działania, uczucia, życia ludzką jednostkę.
