Translational frameshift
Translokalizacja przesunięć ramek lub ribosomalna odnosi się do alternatywnego procesu translacji białek. Białko jest tłumaczone z jednego końca mRNA na drugi, od końca 5 'do 3'. Zwykle białko jest translowane z szablonu mRNA z kolejnymi blokami 3 nukleotydów odczytywanych jako pojedyncze aminokwasy. Jednakże niektóre organizmy mogą wykazywać zmianę lub zmianę ramki rybosomu przez jeden lub dwa nukleotydy podczas tłumaczenia kodu genetycznego. Jest to translational lub ribosomal ramek. Proces może być zaprogramowany przez sekwencję nukleotydową mRNA i czasami wpływa na drugorzędową lub trzeciorzędową strukturę mRNA. Zostało to opisane głównie w wirusach, retrotranspozonach i elementach wstawiających bakterie, a także w niektórych genach komórkowych.
