Żyroskop jest urządzeniem służącym do pomiaru lub zachowania orientacji w oparciu o zasady dynamiki kątowej. Zastosowanie żyroskopów obejmuje bezwładne systemy nawigacyjne, w których kompasy magnetyczne nie działały lub nie były wystarczająco dokładne, ani stabilizacji latających pojazdów, takich jak helikoptery sterowane radiem lub bezzałogowe statki powietrzne.
