Islam (ɪslɑːm /; [note 1] arabski: الإسلام, al-'Islām IPA: [ælʔɪslæːm] (posłuchaj) [note 2]) jest monoteistyczną i Abrahamową religią artykułowaną przez Koran, książkę uważaną przez jej zwolenników być wieczystym słowem Bożym [1] (arabski: الله Allāh) oraz naukami i przykładami normatywnymi (zwanymi Sunnah i składającymi się z hadisów) z Mahometa (ok. 570 r. - 8 czerwca 632 r.), uznawanych za przez nich być ostatnim prorokiem Boga. Zwolennik islamu nazywa się muzułmaninem. Muzułmanie wierzą, że Bóg jest jednym i niezrównanym [2], a celem istnienia jest oddawanie czci Bogu [3]. Muzułmanie uważają również, że islam jest kompletną i uniwersalną wersją pierwotnej wiary, która została wielokrotnie ujawniona przed światem, w szczególności przez Adama, Noego, Abrahama, Mojżesza i Jezusa, których uważają za proroków [4]. Utrzymują, że poprzednie przesłania i objawienia zostały częściowo zinterpretowane lub zmienione w czasie [5], ale uważają, że arabski Koran jest zarówno niezmienionym, jak i ostatecznym objawieniem Boga.
