Lungworms to pasożyty robaków nicieni rzędu Strongylida, które atakują płuca kręgowców. Nazwa ta jest stosowana w przypadku wielu różnych grup nicieni, z których niektóre też mają inne nazwy zwyczajowe; to, co mają wspólnego, jest to, że migrują do płuc lub dróg oddechowych swoich gospodarzy, a także powodują zapalenie oskrzeli lub zapalenie płuc. Obroch płucowy stopniowo uszkadza dróg oddechowych lub tkanki płuc, wywołując reakcję zapalną wewnątrz tkankowej tkanki. Ostatecznie pasożyci przetrwają i rozmnażają się w tkankach oddechowych. Objawy płuc w nadrodziu Trichostrongyloidea obejmują kilka gatunków w rodzaju Dictyocaulus, które zakażają mięśniami kopytnymi, w tym większość najczęściej występujących gatunków domowych. Różne gatunki występują u bydła, jeleni, osłów i koni, owiec i kóz. Zwierzęta te mają bezpośrednie cykle życia.
