Komórki neuroendokrynne są komórkami, które otrzymują neuronalne wejściowe i, w wyniku tego wprowadzenia, uwalniają cząsteczki wiadomości do krwi. W ten sposób prowadzą do integracji układu nerwowego i układu endokrynologicznego, procesu znanego jako integracja neuroendokrynna. W ten sposób współczulny podział autonomicznego układu nerwowego i wydzieliny rdzenia mózgu działają razem. Główne centrum integracji neuroendokrynnej w ciele znajduje się w podwzgórzu i przysadki mózgowej.
