Nomogram
Nomogram, nazywany również nomografem, wykresem wyrównania lub obojętnym, jest graficznym urządzeniem obliczeniowym, dwuwymiarowym diagramem zaprojektowanym w celu umożliwienia przybliżonego obliczania funkcji. Pole nomografii zostało wynalezione przez francuskiego inżyniera Philbert Maurice d'Ocagne w 1884 r. I przez wiele lat było szeroko stosowane, aby zapewnić inżynierom szybkie obliczenia skomplikowanych formuł na praktyczną precyzję. Nomogramy używają równoległego układu współrzędnych, wynalezionego przez d'Ocagne zamiast standardowych współrzędnych kartezjańskich. Nomogram składa się z zestawu n skal, po jednym dla każdej zmiennej w równaniu. Znając wartości zmiennych n-1, można znaleźć wartość nieznanej zmiennej, lub ustalając wartości niektórych zmiennych, można zbadać zależność między niezdefiniowanymi zmiennymi. Rezultat uzyskiwany jest poprzez umieszczenie prostowania w znanej wartości na wagi i odczytywanie nieznanej wartości z miejsca, w którym przecina skalę dla tej zmiennej. Wirtualna lub narysowana linia utworzona przez prostownicę nazywa się linią indeksu lub isoplethem.

Definicja nomogramu w słowniku jest układem dwóch liniowych lub logarytmicznych skal, tak że przecinająca się linia prosta umożliwia odczytanie wartości pośrednich lub wartości na trzeciej skali. Inną definicją nomogramu jest dowolna graficzna reprezentacja relacji liczbowych.
