System grupy krwi Rh jest jednym z trzydziestu trzech obecnych systemów krwiopochodnej. Jest to najważniejszy system grupy krwi po ABO. Kiedy matka jest Rh-negatywna, a ojciec jest Rh-pozytywny, płód może odziedziczyć czynnik Rh od ojca. Powoduje to również płód Rh-positive. Problemy mogą się pojawić, gdy krew płodu ma współczynnik Rh, a krew matki nie. Matka, która jest Rh-negative, może rozwinąć przeciwciała przeciwko dziecku Rh-dodatnie.
