Simarouba
Simarouba jest rodzajem drzew i krzewów z rodziny Simaroubaceae, pochodzących z neotropii. Zostało ono zgrupowane w subwizmie Simaroubina wraz z generacjami Simaba i Quassia. Mają liści złożone, między 1 a 12 parami alternatywnych liści pinnowych. Ich kwiaty są jednoznaczne, stosunkowo niewielkie i rozmieszczone w dużych panlicach. Poszczególne kwiaty mają od 4 do 6 płatków i płatków oraz od 8 do 12 stamen. Owocem jest karpop i ma do czynienia z maksimum 5 marmolady. Adolf Engler i Arthur Cronquist oddzielili gatunki w rodzaju, opierając się przede wszystkim na morfologii kwiatów, ale także na różnicach w strukturze liści. S. amara, S. glauca i S. versicolor to gatunki drzew kontynentalnych i są często mylone ze sobą, szczególnie w obszarach, gdzie więcej niż jeden gatunek występuje w florze. S. amara można wyróżnić poprzez mniejsze kwiaty i pylniki niż S. glauca i S. versicolor, a ponadto ma prosto, a nie zakrzywione płatki; jego owoce są również mniejsze. S.
