Zarodnik
W biologii zarodnica jest jednostką reprodukcji bezpłciowej, która może być dostosowana do rozproszenia i przeżycia, często przez dłuższy okres czasu, w niekorzystnych warunkach. Natomiast gamety są jednostkami reprodukcji seksualnej. Zarodniki stanowią część cyklu życiowego wielu roślin, glonów, grzybów i pierwotniaków. W bakterii zarodniki nie są częścią cyklu seksualnego, ale są odpornymi strukturami stosowanymi do przeżycia w niekorzystnych warunkach. Zarodniki są zazwyczaj haploidalne i jednokomórkowe i są wytwarzane przez mejozę w sporangi diploidalnego sporofit. W sprzyjających warunkach zarodnica może rozwinąć się w nowy organizm, stosując dzielenie mitotyczne, wytwarzając multicellular gametophyte, który ostatecznie prowadzi do produkcji gamet. Dwa bezpieczniki gamety tworzą zygotę, która rozwija się w nowy sporofit. Ten cykl jest znany jako alternacja pokoleń. Zarodniki roślin nasiennych są produkowane wewnętrznie, a megaspory, utworzone w jajnikach i mikroskopach, uczestniczą w tworzeniu bardziej złożonych struktur tworzących jednostki dyspersyjne, nasiona i ziarna pyłków.
Definicja słowa spore w słowniku
Pierwszą definicją zarodników w słowniku jest ciało rozrodcze, wytwarzane przez bakterie, grzyby, różne rośliny i niektóre pierwotniaki, które rozwijają się w nową osobowość. Zarodnik płciowy powstaje po połączeniu gamet, a zarodnik aseksualny jest wynikiem rozmnażania bezpłciowego. Inną definicją zarodnika jest komórka zarodkowa, nasiona, nieaktywna bakteria lub podobne ciało. Zarodnik jest także odpowiedzialny za wytwarzanie, przenoszenie lub uwalnianie zarodników.
