W zwykłych przewodach, takich jak miedź lub srebro, spadek ten jest ograniczony przez zanieczyszczenia i inne wady. Nawet w pobliżu absolutnego zeru rzeczywistą próbką normalnego przewodnika wykazuje pewien opór.
