Testowalność
Testowalność, własność mającą zastosowanie do hipotezy empirycznej, obejmuje dwa składniki: właściwość logiczną, którą różnie określa się jako nieprzewidywalność, opłacalność lub falsyfikowalność, co oznacza, że kontrprzykłady do hipotezy są logicznie możliwe, a praktyczna możliwość obserwacji odtworzonej serii takie kontrprzykłady, jeśli istnieją. Krótko mówiąc, hipoteza jest sprawdzalna, jeśli istnieje jakaś realna nadzieja na podjęcie decyzji, czy jest prawdziwe czy fałszywe z prawdziwych doświadczeń. Na tej podstawie hipotez składowych spoczywa zdolność do decydowania, czy teoria może być poparta lub sfałszowana przez dane rzeczywistego doświadczenia. Jeśli testowane są hipoteki, początkowe wyniki mogą być również oznaczone jako niejednoznaczne.
