Tetragonalny system kryształów
W krystalografii tetragonalny system kryształów jest jedną z siedmiu grup punktów kratowych. Tetragonalne siatki kryształu są wynikiem rozciągania siatki sześciennej wzdłuż jednej z jej wektorów kratowych, dzięki czemu kostka staje się pryzmat prostokątny o kwadratowej podstawie i wysokości. Są dwa tetragonalne typy struktur krystalicznych. Kratki Bravais: prosty tetragonalny i środkowy czworokątny. Można przypuszczać, że rozciąganie skupionej na twarzy sześciennej spowoduje wyśrodkowanie czworonożne, ale czworonożne w środku twarzy jest równe tetragonalnemu środkowi BCT. BCT jest uważany za bardziej podstawowy, więc jest to standardowa terminologia.
